Winner Named for Samoset Resort and Hotel Package Giveaway

Imagine if HR ruled the world? For one week in May they did, well they at least ruled the Samoset Resort in Rockport.

The Maine Human Resources Convention is the premier event for Human Resource professionals, with keynote speakers that included: Governor Angus King; Hope Mihalap "the funniest woman in HR" from Norfolk, Virginia; leadership guru Kimberly Reed from Philadelphia; non-conformist Jay Wallus from Peabody, Massachusetts; employment branding thought leader Ryan Estis from Minneapolis; Michael Gold's Jazz Impact trio from New York City; SHRM diversity leader Eric Peterson from Alexandria, Virginia; and fellow Mainer Susan Arledge from Portland. JobsInME.com was the Keynote sponsor on Thursday and was introduced as the premier employment resource for the state of Maine.

This is the third year in a row that JobsInME.com has been a major sponsor of the MEHRC. Members of our staff were in attendance to educate and train HR professionals on the new search functions and products JobsInME.com has developed.

JobsInME.com and Area Businesses Partner with Westbrook Commnunity Food Pantry to Raise Over $3,000 for Holiday Meal Baskets

JobsInME.com is proud to be one of 29 local businesses to donate to the Westbrook Community Food Pantry fund drive.

For the second year in a row, local businesses in the Westbrook and surrounding area rallied together to raise over $3,000 to help fund Thanksgiving and Christmas meal baskets that the food pantry hands out to families in need in the area.

Unfortunately the needs of the Westbrook Community Food Pantry have never been greater. Donations will be accepted for the rest of December to fill another truck for deliveries. Encourage your friends, co-workers, neighbors and family members to get involved.

Portland Regional Chamber's Business After Hours Sponsored by JobsInME.com

JobsInME.com recently hosted and sponsored the monthly Business After Hours for the Portland Regional Chamber of Commerce.

Business After Hours is a networking opportunity for community and business leaders to get together informally and network with each other.

Over 150 people attended the event, which was catered by Chefa's, Inc. and included door prizes and a 50/50 drawing toward the end of the night.

Portland Pirates Magnetic Calendar Night Sponsored by JobsInME.com

On October 10, JobsInME.com publicly announced their Official Recruiting Partnership with the Portland Pirates Hockey Organization. To spread the news, JobsInME.com set up a booth inside the Cumberland County Civic Center during the Pirates first regular season home game.

While talking to Pirates fans and job seekers, JobsInME.com handed out information about their educational webinars and a new Human Resource tool called HR Made Simple. At the end of the game the staff handed out magnetic calendars with the Pirates 2009-2010 season schedule to all the fans who attended the game.

"How to Use LinkedIn to Grow Your Business"
at the 2009 Social Media FTW Conference

Jason Blais, Director of Business Development for JobsInTheUS and JobsInME.com, was one of several industry leaders to speak at the first annual Social Media FTW Conference held on the University of Southern Maine Campus in Portland.

As Director of Business Development, Blais is responsible for developing strategic partnerships and identifying new programs to help build the JobsInTheUS brands, including JobsInME.com. Relying on 15 years in business development and marketing, primarily for media companies, Blais originally developed "How to Use LinkedIn to Grow Your Business" as an internal training module for the sales staff at JobsInTheUS.

Attendees of this session at the Social Media FTW conference gained insight into this resource, as well as learned tips on how to create and manage a LinkedIn Profile. The training covered personal branding, professional networking, misconceptions associated with this social media platform as well as expert advice and easy to use tools to get user's profiles up and running. The presentation lasted 40 minutes and was followed with a question and answer session.

First Annual Social Media FTW Conference

JobsInME.com recently attended the 2009 Social Media FTW (For The Win) Conference in Portland. The first annual conference was the brain child of Rich Brooks, Chrystie Corns and Jaica Kinsman. As local organizers of the monthly Maine Tweetups and Social Media Breakfasts, the three saw a need for more social media education for small business owners, professional marketers and enterprise level executives.

The Social Media FTW group aims to bring industry leading social media speakers, networking events and educational classes to northern New England. The Social Media FTW Conference included sessions taught by industry leaders in social media, blogging, podcasting, branding, internet marketing and so much more.

This half-day conference delivered hands-on help for those who are new to social networking, as well as higher level strategy sessions for those already involved in social marketing efforts.

MacBook Contest Winner Announced

Jennifer Gosselin of Vermont - our lucky MacBook contest winner - is happy to report that she recently landed a job with a former employer. Back when she was actively looking for work, Gosselin used JobsInVT.com daily, performing job searches by county.

"We didn't have a computer in the house and we've always wanted a laptop. It was so nice to win this, especially right before the Christmas holiday!" Jennifer said.

Gosselin said she really appreciated how easy the site was to use and how quickly she could see all of the jobs listed in her county. She stated she also liked the fact that many employers would keep job information on the site for more than just a few days or a few weeks which allowed her to look back at jobs she had previously applied to, for quick reference.

2008 Maine Municipal Association Convention

JobsInME.com recently attended the annual Maine Municipal Association Convention in Augusta. The theme for this year's convention was "Going Green: Vision to Reality," pointing to the importance of not just thinking "green," but also putting those thoughts into action.

Several seminars were geared toward learning about the benefits, expenses and legal aspects of various green programs. Many of the vendors focused on that topic. "There were several new laws recently imposed that effect municipalities," commented Jason Blais of JobsInME.com. "I believe that the importance of these new laws, their affects and need for immediate implementation contributed to the broad attendance at this year's convention."

JobsInME.com 2008 Career Fair Attracts Great Local Candidates

On September 17, hundreds of job seekers descended on the Wyndham Hotel in South Portland to attend the 2008 JobsInME.com Career Fair. This event, presented by JobsInME.com in partnership with the Androscoggin County Chamber of Commerce, brought together 48 of the region's best local employers to promote career opportunities and find their next great employees. Maine Medical Center, Bath Iron Works, InterCoast Career Institute, and the Central Maine Medical Family sponsored the event, which was promoted heavily through the JobsInME.com website, the Androscoggin County chamber, and on the radio at WCYY, WHOM, WJBQ, and WBLM, which also did live call-ins from the event! This promotion, along with the list of high quality employers on hand, attracted great quality candidates, looking for all types of career opportunities.

With the economy slowing and unemployment rising slightly in Maine, the great local businesses that are growing are finding a growing stream of quality applicants for all their open positions. In fact, more than 90% of the employers stated that they found potential candidates and viable resumes during the event! JobsInME.com staff were on hand providing resume tips and career advice to the hundreds of jobs seekers who made their way through the 2008 JobsInME.com Career Fair. Said one of the JobsInME.com staff, "It was a great experience for me - to be able to show people that we're so much more than just a website on the internet, that JobsInME.com is a real, local business that's committed to helping local job seekers connect with local employers. It was great sharing our expertise with people face to face."

Androscoggin County Chamber Of Commerce Inducts JobsInME.com

More than 230 people attended the sold-out Androscoggin Chamber of Commerce monthly breakfast on Thursday, April 10th. Held at the Lost Valley Ski Resort in Auburn, JobsInME.com was one of five organizations to be inducted into the Chamber as a new member.

JobsInME.com Attends USM's Largest
Annual Job Fair

Representatives with JobsInME.com recently met with many local job seekers at the University of Southern Maine Spring Job Fair - USM's largest annual job event. Participating Maine employers enjoyed meeting prospective employment candidates and giving their organizations greater visibility at the university.

Sponsored by JobsInME.com (in conjunction with the Career Services and the Professional Life Development Center at University of Southern Maine), the event was held at the USM Sullivan Gym on the Portland Campus on Thursday, April 10th. JobsInME.com representatives fielded questions regarding their website, free job seeker products and opportunities for employment, recruiting local students for open positions at JobsInME.com.

The Spring Job Fair provides an opportunity for USM students and others to meet face-to-face with potential employers and informally interview for potential jobs and internships. This year's program attracted 77 employers who exhibited their job opportunities while meeting with hundreds of local job seekers, who included current students, alumni and the general public.
