The Gifford of today is much larger than the lone physician and house that started it all, but Dr. Gifford's commitment to meeting the community's needs for care - and high quality care at that - continue. In fact, the medical center's mission reflects that ongoing, long-standing commitment.
Gifford Medical Center is a non-profit hospital that has been serving the health needs of central Vermonters for more than 100 years. Based in Randolph, Gifford has a total of more than 600 employees working in nine Vermont locations providing compassionate, family-friendly health care from Berlin to White River Junction.
Gifford is a 25-bed critical access hospital, known for its Birthing Center, sports medicine program, commitment to accessible primary care, diverse surgical offerings and award-winning nursing home and palliative care program. Home to a nationally-accredited cancer program and advanced diagnostic technology, Gifford offers a unique culture of financial stability and excellence in care provided and in the working environment.
Benefit programs such as retirement savings opportunities are generous and the area offers both a rural escape and ample recreational and cultural opportunities. Local public schools are leaders in the state and there are two colleges in the region. Population centers and ski areas are easily within driving distance and the community figuratively and literally lives up to its moniker as “the heart of Vermont."
