POSITION SUMMARY: The Animal Care Technician provides for the daily care, safety and enrichment of animals housed at AWS and ensures all cleaning standards and protocols are met.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Works collaboratively within all levels of the organization and across departments to cultivate a positive culture and team approach to fulfilling AWS’ mission
• Develop, share and use approved tools and processes to contribute to efficient workflow
• Clean and maintain all animal housing areas
• Conduct animal adoption counseling and convey animal behavior and medical records to adopters in a way that is easily understood
• Complete animal adoptions, ensure all transaction paperwork and computer records are complete and accurate
• Responsible for properly handling financial transactions
• General cleaning of facility including laundry
• Feed, care, bathe, and medicate animals
• Provide excellent customer service at all times
• Perform incoming health evaluations for animals admitted into care
• Notify supervisor of sickness or injury of animal or person in the facility, needed supplies, faulty equipment, and inappropriate behavior of visitors or volunteers
• Remain knowledgeable and in compliance with AWS Personnel Guidelines, applicable State and Federal laws and AWS policies, procedures and programs
• Support programs and activities of AWS as requested
