Position Summary

The Director of Informatics will lead and manage enterprise informatics and analytics, collaborating with business areas across the enterprise to provide reporting, informatics capacity, and analytic tools and resources for the organization. The Director supervises and supports the organization’s informatics team as well as helping define and achieve the strategic analytic requirements of the organization.

Responsibilities

The Director will have responsibility for developing and implementing policies, processes and procedures designed to provide informatics and analytic capabilities to the organization while ensuring data consistency and integrity.

The Director will have direct oversight of the Informatics team.

  • Help develop and support the organization’s overall Enterprise Data and Analytics Strategy: build enterprise data that is accurate, standardized, and optimized. Build analytical pathways/methodologies that will be used within the department and enterprise.
  • Manage and support the organization’s Informatics team.
  • Define and implement the organization's processes for capturing business requirement, prioritizing work, and producing reports and actionable information.
  • Enforce data privacy and security: define and implement security processes, policies, and tools in order to secure enterprise data assets from unauthorized infringement.
  • Assist and educate staff in using state of the art analytic tools.
  • Build strong relationship with business owners, act as their representative for the organization when enterprise data is created, updated, and deleted; influence the appropriate enterprise data usage and views.
  • Prepare time estimates for completing projects.
  • Prepare and present project progress reports for management. Identify problems and issues and recommend solutions.
  • Manage the definition, implementation and integration of quality principles and quality processes into the design and development of analytics processes.
  • Research, develop and implement testing methods and procedures. Ensures that products meet the highest quality standards.
  • Recommend, develop and administer data policies and procedures.

Requirements

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree Required, Advanced Degree Preferred
  • At least eight (8) years’ experience in healthcare industry with in-depth knowledge of claims and clinical data, and actuarial or analytics experience. Extensive knowledge of data architecture and data management principles.
  • Extensive understanding of database systems.
  • Significant experience in business intelligence and data analytics, strong understanding of data presentment and data presentment design
  • Significant experience with BI data visualization techniques
  • Working knowledge of statistical data analysis.
  • Excellent priority and time management skills; Can effectively implement multiple projects.
  • Strong SQL and report development and optimization experience.
  • Ability to organize information in an effective manner, to showcase relationships, qualities, quantities, and priorities, in a non-trivial but accessible and impactful manner.
  • Willingness to partner with business professionals or groups (which may include group speaking) in order to evangelize information technology efforts in our workplace.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to interpret and/or discuss terminology or concepts
  • Supervisory experience preferred.

  • Demonstrated track record in driving impact and leading and managing significant, complex efforts, robust process, and project management skills
  • Excellent organization, time management, and tenacious follow-up skills; ability to prioritize and demonstrate an appropriate sense of urgency
  • Expert understanding of Data Management Lifecycle
  • Familiarity with both business and technical metadata concepts.
  • Ability to identify and describe the complex interplay between data in the various systems of origin and final use (e.g., reporting, decision-making, regulatory compliance, etc.)
  • Ability to understand the implications of data quality issues and explain the impact that technology, organizational structure and business practices have on data quality
  • Ability to interact with cross-functional and quality improvement teams at every level of the organization
  • Familiarity with data governance tool components (e.g., Lineage, Metadata & Dictionary, Data Catalog)
  • A self-starter with the ability to work effectively both individually as well as part of a team
