Job Description

We are seeking an energetic, self-directed, Food and Nutrition Services Manager. This position is responsible for the effective management and operation of the Dietary department.

Responsibilities:

  • Provides leadership and support to direct reports within the dietary department.
  • Ensures the dietary requirements of each resident are met and compliant with prescribed diet plans.
  • Plans and ensures the preparation of high quality food items for resident, with proper nutrition levels.
  • Manages the control of food and labor costs through oversight of proper scheduling and purchasing.
  • Participates in the development of dietary policies and procedures.
  • Maintains safe and sanitary kitchen areas and equipment in compliance with applicable standards.
  • Assures safe and sanitary food preparation and handling practices, ensures foods are kept at proper temperatures in compliance with department policy, infection control procedures, regulations and public health standards.
  • Provides department fiscal management, including input on budget development, monitoring cost effectiveness, productivity, volume, reimbursement changes, etc.
  • Recommends major capital acquisitions with cost-benefit analysis.

Experience and Skills

  • Qualified Dietician, Certified Dietary Manager, or Certified Food Service Manager OR Associate's or higher degree in food service management or hospitality
  • Knowledge and skill in using computer software, including proficiency with MS Office applications
  • Well skilled in all technical and sanitary aspects of food preparation and presentation
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule
  • Training in cost control and food management
  • Ability to deal tactfully and respectfully with residents, families, personnel and visitors
  • Must possess leadership qualities and the willingness to work harmoniously with staff and coworkers
