Statement of Purpose

Reporting to the Director of Materials Management, this position assists in ensuring the performance of the hospital supply chain from selection to utilization of goods and services.

This position will work a variety of Materials Management functions to support the various functions of the hospital supply chain. They may work in purchasing, shipping, receiving, inventory, distribution or any area of supply chain management within the hospital.

Essential Functions, Duties, and Responsibilities

Supports the performance of a supply chain from order to utilization of goods and services.

Submits purchase orders and requisitions, tracks and updates inventory, assesses current orders as well as forecast future supply needs to ensure adequate supplies.

Will work as needed within purchasing, shipping, receiving, inventory distribution functions of supply chain management within the hospital.

Maintains data integrity within our Materials Management Inventory System.

Understands LEAN principles to improve supply chain processes, improve department performance and reduce operational costs.

Promotes communication and successful working relationships with other functional areas within the hospital which affect the Supply Chain function and effectiveness.

Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Materials Management.

Working Conditions

Will carry loads not to exceed 60 lbs., moving objects above shoulder level to place and adjust stock, standing and walking for long periods of time, moving hazardous materials, and functioning in hot and cold environmental temperatures.

Environmental conditions are similar to a climate-controlled warehouse.

Supply Chain Specialist I:

Job Requirements

3 years' experience as a Buyer, Purchasing Agent or Inventory/Warehouse associate, preferably in a hospital environment or similar sector.

A basic working knowledge of computer applications as related to purchasing and inventory management systems

Basic to intermediate use of Excel and Word required.

Detail oriented, self-starter, with excellent time management skills, able to manage overlapping projects, keep track of deadlines, and efficient use of their time.

Excellent verbal, written, and presentation communication skills for interaction with all levels of hospital staff, that will result in a positive work environment and strong customer relations both within and outside the hospital.

Special consideration given to: Certification in Purchasing, Production and Inventory Control, or

Supply Chain Management, a Black Belt and/or Six Sigma certified, Lean Certification.

Supply Chain Specialist II:

Job Requirements

Associates degree and three to five years' experience as a Buyer, Purchasing Agent or Inventory/Warehouse staff, preferably in a hospital environment or similar sector.

An Associate degree in business administration, accounting, economics, or a related field is preferred. Business experience may be substituted in lieu of degree.

A thorough knowledge of computer applications as related to Materials Management functions, including data base management and inventory control systems.

Intermediate to advanced use of Excel and Word required.

Detail oriented, self-starter, with excellent time management skills, able to manage overlapping projects, keep track of deadlines, and efficient use of their time.

Excellent verbal, written, and presentation communication skills for interaction with all levels of hospital staff, that will result in a positive work environment and strong customer relations both within and outside the hospital.

Special consideration given to: Certification in Purchasing, Production and Inventory Control, or
