Behavioral Health Nurse

Northern Counties Healthcare, based in beautiful Northeast Kingdom of Vermont, is seeking a Behavioral Health Nurse to assist the psychiatric nurse practitioner in managing patients' day-to-day needs. This multifaceted role involves tasks such as rooming visits, triaging referrals, assisting with medication refills, and facilitating screenings and risk assessments. The ideal candidate will have a background in nursing or human services, with at least two years of experience in the field, preferably in primary care, mental health, or addictions.

Qualified applicants must possess a strong educational foundation, including graduation from an accredited RN/LPN program or MA program and licensure in Vermont. Provider level CPR/BLS certification is required, with consideration given to LPNs. Knowledge of mental health treatment, diagnostics, and medications, as well as effective communication skills with patients of all ages, is essential. Additionally, candidates should demonstrate the ability to triage psychiatric acuity, handle multiple tasks, and maintain confidentiality.

Qualifications

  1. Education: Graduate of an accredited RN program, MA program. Licensed in the State of Vermont. Provider level CPR/BLS required. LPN considered.

  2. Experience: At least two years' experience in the field of human services or nursing. Experience as a case manager, and in primary care, mental health, or addictions strongly preferred
