Job Description
The University of Southern Maine's Athletic Department is seeking a temporary Assistant Coach for its Men and Women's Track and Field Program. The successful candidate will have experience in track and field and will assist in student-athlete development, recruiting, travel, and securing and maintaining necessary equipment and apparel. The Assistant Coach will assist the Head Coach of Men and Women's Track and Field Programs with all aspects of the overall program operation. This includes a ssisting the head coach in developing, implementing, and administering training programs . The Assistant Coach will be r esponsible for coaching the distance event group and assist with other event areas, assist and/or supervise workout sessions, a ssist the Head Coach in the talent identification and recruitment of potential USM student-athletes, attend all home contests and travel with the team to away contests, assist with program fundraising initiatives, a dhere to and support all rules, conditions, and regulations of The University of Southern Maine and the NCAA.
This is a part-time temporary position that will compensate up to $2,000 for the season and may vary depending on the selected candidate's availability and time commitment.
Pre-season practices begin 2 - 3 days per week starting October 1 st from 3:00-5:00pm. During spring semester (beginning Jan. 21 st ), practices will be from 1:00-3:00pm. Outdoor season concludes at the end of May. Meets are primarily on Saturdays and the majority are daytrips.

Required Qualifications:
- High School diploma required.
- High school track and field competitive experience required.
- Ability to pass a background check and safe driving check.
- Ability to drive large passenger vans with a valid driver's license.
